General Notes:
Harold was an intelligent and entertaining man who couldn't be bothered to make much of himself. He almost became an accountant, but never passed all sections of the exams at the same time. He worked for the Exchange Telegraph Company for many years, initially in Bristol, where he met Carolyn Ann Stevens who was some 24 years his junior. In his youth he like tennis, girls and army life. He served in the territorial Army during peacetime and in the Royal pay Corps during World War II, during which he visited the Near East (Egypt and Palestine) and India. In the 1950s Harry and Carol moved to Blackpool, and finally retired to Mountain, Bradford, Yorks, where he eventually died from Emphesema, having smoked like a chimney all his life.
Harold married Caroyln Ann Stephens on 1 Mar 1950 in Bristol 137. (Caroyln Ann Stephens was born on 8 Jan 1931 in Bristol.)
