General Notes:
Private no 495603.
Percy served with the 13th Kensington Battalion, London Regiment and was killed in action on the morning of 21st March 1918 whilst serving with the 6th London Regiment. He was first buried by the Germans in Flavy le Martel Field Graves, then moved to Grand-Seraucourt British Cemetery by the Imperial War Graves Commission.
Several letters from him on service in France exist, the last dated 6 Feb 1918 mentioning shortage of rations and apologising for not being able to send Dorothea a brithday present, '.. but will have to try to make it up to her sometime'. He also hoped that Fred is alright but saying that that he had not received a letter from him yet.
A letter exists from Dorothea (his half-sister) to him dated some six weeks after he died. It is not clear whether this is a draft, a copy, or the original unsent. It shows, however, that there was considerable affection between the half-siblings of this marriage.
